This bride and groom wanted an idea of what their cake would look like so they paid me to make a mini cake to replicate what we will be doing on their large cake. They wanted color but were afraid it would be too much as most cakes are just white so this gave them the opportunity to see on a smaller more affordable scale. In the end they opted for a simpler all white design, but they enjoyed the fun of the purple on their mini cake.
It is always fun to learn a new technique. I have never tried a frozen buttercream transfer so I thought I would try it out. It was a fun new way to put a character on the cake. It wasn't perfect...I shouldn't have outlined the nose, and I would likely do a smaller tip on future ones so it can be more detailed but overall it turned out pretty well. To tie the whole theme together we added cute hello kitty cupcakes with pre-made picks to match the liners and cute little hello kitty sprinkles to add to it.
It's always fun to make cupcakes for a wedding tasting. These were to have the happy couple try some of the great oreo cupcakes. It was a hit! Bride is having a hard time being convinced to offer any other flavor besides oreo. That's always a good sign.
