80's style birthday cake

Who can tell me what this game was?  We made this cake for a guy who loves the 80's.  It's a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting covered in black fondant.

Hello Kitty Birthday Party

 It is always fun to learn a new technique.  I have never tried a frozen buttercream transfer so I thought I would try it out.  It was a fun new way to put a character on the cake.  It wasn't perfect...I shouldn't have outlined the nose, and I would likely do a smaller tip on future ones so it can be more detailed but overall it turned out pretty well.  To tie the whole theme together we added cute hello kitty cupcakes with pre-made picks to match the liners and cute little hello kitty sprinkles to add to it.

Clowns are fun

For the two year old not afraid of clowns...that would not be my daughter. She said, "Clowns are freaky mom!"  Guess it's a good thing it wasn't for her.

Sonic the Dog has a birthday

 I made this cake above for the family of sonic the dog.  They celebrate the family dog's birthday every year and I made the cake this year for it.  They love almonds so I did a white chocolate almond cake with an almond butter cream frosting.  It was a last minute order so it was fun to come up with the decoration while the cake was in the oven. 

 I also made this cake for Sonic the dog.  It is a peanut butter banana cake with sliced bananas in between the layers.  Frosted with a cream cheese frosting.  My husband helped find the dog friendly recipes online.  Can't wait to get to try another recipe. 

 The family sent me a picture of Sonic enjoying his cake.  He ate it in one bite!  Go sonic!

Monsters University

With the new movie Monsters University this cake is perfect for the occasion.

Summer Swim party fish

I had fun making this cute fish for a summer birthday party.  The mom always calls her boy her little fish since he loves to swim so much.  It was perfect for him.

2nd birthday to a great little cowgirl

 I have had the great opportunity to make the baby shower, 1st birthday and now 2nd birthday cake for this adorable little girl.  This year they went with a cowgirl theme.

 In addition the larger cake that served the guests they did a mini cake again for the cute girl. 

The hat was handmade with rice krispies treats and fondant.  It turned out pretty good I think.  I had never molded the treats into shapes other than round for fake cakes before so this was a learning experience for me, but one I enjoyed.

In the picture of one the cakes they liked it had a huge #1 candle.  I looked everywhere online and couldn't find where they had gotten it.  So taking the cereal we made a 2 the height the candle would have been.  It had to be a bit thicker to hold it's shape but they loved it.

The back of the cake didn't turn out quite as cute as I wanted.  I had major issues with the mold I was using and all the little fondant accessories to make the bandana look like a bandana didn't come out.  So it's more sparse than I wanted but they loved it.

 

Pool party cake

This cute birthday cake was a red velvet cake for a girl who was having a pool party.  Fun little cake to do for her.

For the car loving man

Simple but yet getting to the heart of what this guy loves....cars, and more specifically his dream car a corvette.

Spaghetti and meatballs is every boys favorite treat

 We had fun making this spaghetti and meatballs cake for another teenager.  Boys love food.  He picked dreamsicle cake inside then topped with buttercream frosting and raspberry jelly and chocolate balls for meatballs.  We added some cinnamon breadsticks and pound cake with just a few sprinkles to make it look like garlic bread.

 What fun ideas for teenage boys or even adult boys as who doesn't love food?

Simple beauty in a cake

I love the simple beatuy that this cake has.  It was a white chocolate cake with butter cream frosting.  It was for a birthday but could be done for any occasion.

Sylander Cake

 This adorable cake was made with the theme of Skylander.  I hand made the little green "chompies" and the sheep.  The cake is both white chooclate and triple chocolate depending on the layers.

Ninjago Cupcakes

 One of the fun things about doing cakes is being kept in the loop of all the cool boy toys and cartoons.  I had to spend some time online figuring out what a Ninjago was to make these cupcakes.  They are half chocolate, half white all frosted with yellow butter cream than overlaid with fondant.

Happy birthday with a little fun inside

This cute little birthday cake looks simple on the outside but when the birthday girl cut into it, it was filled with yellow and blue polka dots.

Beautiful birthday cake

 White cake decorated simply with fading turquoise and accented with frosting flowers.  A great mini cake for a special lady.

Pac Man

 I had fun doing these white cupcakes with chocolate frosting to look like a pac man board.  The accents are made with fondant.
